Musketeer

Four elixir, seven tiles of lead, and a musket that never misses the mark.

The Musketeer is a long-range, single-target troop card in Clash Royale, serving as one of the most recognizable and reliable ranged attackers in the game's roster. Deployed for four elixir, she fires precise musket bolts at both ground and air enemies from a generous distance, making her a cornerstone of countless deck archetypes from the early days of the game to the present.

Visually, she is a sharp-eyed blonde woman in a fitted red-and-white outfit, standing with her musket raised in a confident, ready stance. Her role in the Arena is straightforward but potent: she picks off tanks, supports a push, and—critically—provides a dependable air-defense option without requiring a dedicated spell or building.

Lore & Background

In the bustling Kingdom where the Arena pits rival warriors against one another each day, the Musketeer is a familiar sight on the spectator stands. She is not a noble or a legendary hero; she is a disciplined soldier who earned her place through steady, unglamorous excellence. Her musket is a well-worn companion, its barrel polished by years of practice on the training grounds behind the Royal Keep.

Folk in the taverns say she joined the Arena circuit not for glory but for the silver that a clean win earns, enough to keep a small cottage in the outer villages. What she lacks in flash—no roaring charge, no thunderous slam—she makes up for in patience. While the Barbarians brawl and the Golems lumber, she simply waits, lines up her shot, and lets the bolt do the talking. Opponents who underestimate her range learn quickly that a single well-placed shot can turn a push into a pile of rubble.

Among the other troops, she is respected but not feared. The P.E.K.K.A. doesn't need to worry about her; the Baby Dragon, however, has learned the hard way that a musket bolt arriving from three tiles further than expected is a very unpleasant surprise. She is, in the words of one grizzled Archer Queen, "the one you do not want to be standing next to when the fight goes long."

In Their Own Story

The arena floor was still warm from the previous match when she stepped onto the dirt, her boots crunching softly. Across the bridge, a Hog Rider was already charging, hooves thundering, and the crowd roared. She didn't flinch. She settled her feet, raised the musket to her shoulder, and watched the little pig-man come. One shot. Two. The Hog Rider crumpled into a puff of smoke and a shower of coins. The crowd's roar shifted from excitement to a low, impressed murmur. She lowered the musket, tucked it behind her back, and walked off the field without a word. Behind her, a Baby Dragon was circling, looking for an easy target. She turned, raised the barrel again, and let the bolt fly. The dragon sputtered, tumbled, and fell. She was already heading for the tunnel back to the barracks. Another clean day. Another coin in the jar on the windowsill back home.

Reader's Guide

The Musketeer is a 4-elixir ranged troop with 126 hitpoints and 31 damage per shot at base level. She fires at a long range of 7 tiles, giving her a significant safety margin against most melee troops and splash attackers. Her medium movement speed means she reaches the bridge at a measured pace, and she targets both air and ground units, making her a versatile single-target DPS and a reliable air-defense option.

Her primary role in a deck is as a ranged support or a secondary push unit. She pairs well with tanks (Golem, Giant, Hog Rider) because her range lets her chip at enemy towers and defending troops from a safe distance. Against air threats like Balloons, Mega Minions, or Dragons, she provides sustained single-target damage without the need for a dedicated air-defense building, freeing up elixir for other plays.

Her weaknesses are straightforward: she is a single-target unit, so she struggles against swarms (Minions, Skeleton Army) and is vulnerable to splash damage (Baby Dragon, Mortar, Fireball). Her 126 HP means she can be kited by fast melee troops like Knight or Mini P.E.K.K.A. if she is placed too far forward. She also cannot attack buildings until she reaches the bridge, so early-game placement matters.

In practice, the Musketeer shines in control and beatdown decks alike. She is a "set-and-forget" ranged presence that punishes overcommitment and punishes air pushes. Her 4-elixir cost makes her easy to cycle, and her long range means she can often survive a counter that would kill a shorter-range unit like the Archer.
